| One of our whitetail outfitters leases 7,700 private acres in Palo Duro Canyon, where he is offering a combination aoudad and feral hog hunt.
"A friend and I hunted mature animals that were 28 and 27 inches the first time we hunted this ranch, and so I leased it," he said. "The ranch has produced a 34-1/2 incher." The outfitter has five feeders on the property to attract hogs and even aoudads. "Our hunt is 3 1/2 days, and the hunters are welcome to stay and hunt pigs after they get their aoudads. We see quite a few hogs." An advantage of this hunt is that you fly into Amarillo, which is usually less expensive to reach than some towns near other aoudad areas in West Texas.aoudad. According to the landowner, hunter success on aoudad has always been 100 percent. The ranch is 14 miles from a town with a motel with modest prices. |
Update: Looking for two hunters for late February or March 2011.
