Special opportunity: Hunt an area where rifle hunters must draw a tag
Each year this southern Idaho rancher takes two or three self-guided bow hunters for elk on his own land near Preston, and also allows a son to hunt. You can hunt both deer and elk during your stay. This is totally unguided, but you can stay 10 days. There are quite a few deer, so it's probably a good idea to buy a buck tag. Archery season usually runs for four weeks and starts on the closest Saturday to Sept. 1. Most hunters get close-range shooting opportunities on this hunt. He now gets a landowner rifle tag. The price for the rifle permit is $2,500. The hunt takes place in a zone where rifle hunters must apply in a drawing for tags, but bowhunters can buy a tag over the counter. Because of light hunting pressure in this unit, there are some big bulls. Hunt EKB4309

This ranch has been featured on a Versus hunting show and has produced a few really nice bulls during the bow hunt. Very little rifle hunting has taken place on this property because it lies within a game management unit where rifle hunters must draw a tag to hunt big bulls. Consequently bulls have a good chance of getting some age on them. Bull-to-cow ratios are high. The price is $2,000 a person. Ask about Hunt EKB4505ID. |
