Here's a spot-and-stalk black bear hunt in a part of British Columbia that is home to a healthy population of bruins. "We didn't take any spring hunters last year," the outfitter said. "But we sure saw a lot of bears. During the fall big game seasons we saw quite a few bears and a lot of big ones. But we didn't have anybody with tags. And when I was pre-season scouting, I saw bears everywhere. I think you would be likely to take a 300 to 400-pound bear in the spring. "We have four bear hunters booked this spring. I'm expecting over 100 percent hunter success. I've guided black bear hunters in other areas, and I think this is at least as good as those areas, and we always did at least 100 percent there.
"I would say about 10 percent of the black bears are a color phase other than black. Most of the bears will measure six to seven foot square. "Fishing is available at the same time as the spring bear hunt for bull trout, Dolly Varden, rainbow, Arctic grayling, whitefish and lake trout. And the can always add wolves though it's not the best time of year to kill a wolf, there's always the chance." Accommodations are in a wall tent camp. The tents are heated by woodstoves and propane heaters. Hunting is by four-wheel-drive truck or ATV. You'll glass big cut blocks on huge mountainsides.ge points by four-wheel-drive truck or ATV. You can add black bear or wolf for a trophy fee plus the necessary tag.
