British Columbia spot-and-stalk hunt produces
Several openings for 2001. 100% success 1998-2000 (19 for 19 in 2000). $2,000 U.S. for seven days, two hunters per guide. 1x1 is $400 extra. Bears are typically 5 1/2 to 6 feet square with largest in the seven-foot class. Good chance for color phase pelts. Hunt BL315.

High success and big bruins near Tucson, Arizona

Southeast Alaska boat-based hunt for black bears

This outfitter travels an extra distance to Kuiu Island to get past the areas hunted by other outfitters. The biggest bear he has ever produced squared eight feet, and there are a lot of seven footers. Most hunters should be able to take a bear between 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 feet. 6 days, $4,200, last week of May, plus $150 air charter from Juneau. You'll stay in a 58-foot Hatteras with 3 staterooms, 3 bathrooms and 2 showers. Hunt BL46.

Colorado spot-and-stalk bear hunt is $1,600

Hunt western Colorado with one of our favorite outfitters, who has worked with us for seven or eight years. He charges $1,600 for a five-day hunt in the fall. You must draw a tag. April 1 application deadline. Ask about Hunt BL21.


Western Alberta spot-and-stalk hunt produced seven bears for five hunters in 2004. Excellent trophies to 500 pounds, many colored bears.

Manitoba: This fall or spring hunt typically produces shooting for all hunters. In 2004 all spring and fall hunters tagged out with half the customers using bow and arrow. Bears average about 300 pounds. The biggest in 2004 weighed 485 pounds. House lodging in Hodgson with meals and airport pickup in Winnipeg included. 6 days, $1,800.
