This hunt offers an excellent opportunity to take a brown bear squaring between eight and nine feet. You'll hunt from a comfortable lodge in a remote region of Wood-Stikchik State Park in southwestern Alaska. This area is mountainous and spectacular. Hunters stay in their own waterfront cabins while enjoying chef-prepared meals at a lodge. After a day in the field, hunters can return to warm up by a hot wood stove and enjoy a dinner. This hunt is not as physically difficult as some brown bear hunts, so there are no physical conditioning requirements. |
Bear are often seen along streams where salmon are spawning. If a large bears begins feeding on the remnants of a killed moose, your guide might target that bear. Bears eat abundant salmon. You'll travel by jet boat to salmon spawning areas. Hunters typically take bears squaring eight to nine feet or more. You'll have your own personal guide. Hunter success on this hunt has averaged 75 percent over the past 15 years. You may also enjoy world class fishing for rainbow trout and Arctic char right out your front door. This hunt is a good choice for bowhunters because the salmon draw bears to specific locations. The outfitter runs a high class flyfishing operation out of this lodge during the summer, so he and his guides are well aware of the best areas to find bears as well as spawning salmon upon which the bears feed. |
