Utah mountain lion hunt offers nice toms | ||||||||||||||||||||||
|
This houndsman has spent several years guiding lion hunters for other outfitters with excellent success, and now he has his own outfit. He operates on public land in the Fillmore area of central Utah. In some units you must draw a tag to hunt the first part of the season, but in mid-February you can buy a tag over the counter and hunt until the quota is filled in that zone. He currently has two openings for the first week of the quota season, which begins Feb. 18. He also hunts some zones where the quota doesn't normally fill. He actually prefers the spring hunt over the winter hunt unless there's a lot of snow on the ground. "It gets tough in late February when it freezes at night and warms up during the day," he said. "I usually do really well in April or May after everything warms up."
