2009 report: 8 bulls for 8 hunters, and the trophies were the smallest since 2003 with only two over 300 and the rest just under 300 B&C. 2008 report: This outfit won the award for producing the biggest elk in the province for a hunting client again in 2008. This was the fourth time this outfit has placed No. 1 in the past six years. Hunter success on elk in 2008 was 100% with the average bull scoring 335. The outfitters have three openings left for 2009 at $5,000 per person. "I had one hunter who was passing on 300 to 315 class bulls," one of the partners told us. "And I was thinking, 'Man, this guy must have some real dandies on his wall.' Finally he got a shot between two pine trees at 50 yards, and this bull was a 350 at least I figured. Well, he missed, probably hit one of the trees. But the bull ended up giving him a broadside shot, and he put him down. He ended up scoring 355, which was our second biggest bull, and he told me it was a lot bigger than the biggest elk he had ever shot, which turned out to be a 265 class bull. All in all it turned out to be our best year every for elk and moose -- we ended up 100 % on both. We had four guys for moose, too, and their bulls were 50 inches, 49 inches, 50 inches and 51 inches. We're full in 2009 but have opening in 2010, and the price is $5,000, which we'll lock in for a guy booking early. If a moose hunter wants a mule deer, he can pay $1,500 extra." This bull was photographed live during the summer. He avoided hunters during hunting season. He probably scores 390 to 400, possibly more. This hunt takes place in some trophy areas near Hinton, Alberta. The outfit produced the largest elk taken in the province three of the past five years. The two biggest bulls they have taken scored 404 and 408 B&C points. The price includes airport pickup at Edmonton. Hunting license, tags and taxes are extra. Accommodations are in a cabin about 40 miles south of Hinton. There have been really big bulls seen but not killed the past two years. We do not consider this an easy hunt --- there is plenty of cover, there is some hunting competition from locals in some areas, and the elk are totally wild. But the chance for a quality animal is good for hunters willing to work hard and pass on lesser animals. Our customers who have used this outfit say both owners are good hunters who try their best and are fun to be around. The outfitters also run a highly successful moose hunt.
