Hunt elk on 125,000 private acres in northern New Mexico |
This outfitter runs a highly successful trophy elk hunt on more than 125,000 private acres. These are wild, free-roaming elk and are not constrained by game-proof fences. The hunting is good because hunting pressure is limited to about 14 hunters a year. Most years see 11 or 14 of the hunters filling their tags on bulls scoring 300 to 350 B&C points though there have been a few bigger ones, including bulls in the 360s, 370s and even 390s. |
The land lies along the Cimarron River east of Raton. You'll stay in a five-bedroom three-bath ranch house and eat ranch meals. The bulls in this part of New Mexico seldom get much over 350, but there are usually good numbers of 300 to 325 bulls. |
