All these hunts are for wild elk - no high fences

Physically easy hunt in New Mexico
A guided hunt on a wheatfield near Raton. The outfitter will call you once he sees bulls on the property, and he wants you to come immediately. Hunters have taken nothing smaller than a 5x5 on this hunt. $5,500 plus the license ($560).  Hunt EK4704WF

New Mexico ranch for archery elk hunt

Some years we can get an archery elk landowner permit on a private ranch in northern New Mexico. The landowner's family kept the vouchers the last two years. These allow you to buy a tag from the state and hunt the ranch, which covers 2,500 acres on the Johnson Mesa and bordering a big ranch that offers high-dollar guided hunts. This hunt is always highly productive on bulls in the 5x5 to 320 class, and there have been some bigger bulls. You can take a deer and a black bear, too. In 2007 the ranch produced a 32-inch muley, and all the hunters on the ranch killed bull elk, two killed deer and one got a bear.

DEADLINE March 28
for New Mexico elk, deer and antelope permit applications. 10 percent of all tags are reserved for outfitter clients, so you can dramatically increase your odds of drawing a quality tag by booking with an outfitter. Call us for some great options. In many cases a guided hunt is less than the cost of a landowner voucher.

Landowner permits available for guided trophy elk hunts in New Mexico

A customer called to ask about the availability of high-quality elk hunts, and I checked with two of my long-time outfitters in New Mexico. One of them can definitely get landowner permits for hunters wishing to hunt in Unit 34 or Unit 36. He charges $9,000, which includes the landowner voucher. He produced a bull over 370 and another over 380 last year. The other charges $4,000 for his hunt and the landowner voucher in his favorite area is an extra $7,000.
