Arctic National Wildlife Refuge backpack hunt, 2 openings in 2008 Alaska: This backpack hunt has produced seven grizzlies for 10 hunters in the past 10 years. You and your guide will be flown into a remote area to glass the sandbars along the Jacksina and Nebesna rivers. 10-day hunt guided 1x1 in early May. Call for the latest price. Hunt GB4907. British Columbia: This hunt along salmon streams has produced seven boars for nine hunters from 2002 through 2004, including three record-book-size bears. All hunters had shooting opportunities. Most hunters saw two or three bears a day, but you are expected to hold out for a a trophy boar. This roadless 5,000-square-mile concession is 60 miles east of Juneau. Most hunters stay in a cabin on the river, traveling by jet boat to glass for bears walking the edge of the river. 10- day hunts start May 1. Hunt GB5102. |
Barren-ground grizzly, NWT: Bears are expanding on on the vast tundra of Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. This hunt takes place near the Bathurst Inlet, off the Arctic Coast out of the tiny settlement of Omingmaktok. You'll use snow machines for transportatio. These bears are as big as interior mountain grizzlies in the Yukon or Alaska. Some grizzlies are killed each year by Eskimo and Indian hunters acting in self defense. 10-day 1x1 hunt between May 9 and 20, including the charter out of Bay Chimo. Success typically 100%.
