Kansas deer hunt available

One of our favorite outfitters has an opening for whitetail deer at $3,000. You'll be hunting with a rifle in Unit 8 on a property that hasn't been hunted in the past two years. "We're expecting some great bucks this year," the outfitter said. The hunt starts Wednesday.

Arizona reinstates on-line applications, moves up elk and antelope application deadline to Feb. 13.

Wyoming outfitter reports

An outfitter who concentrates on quality deer, elk and antelope units in southern Wyoming reported his 2006 results.  He had nine hunters kill eight mule deer bucks with the biggest scoring 195 B&C points. He said two other big bucks were missed. The only hunter who did not score passed on several bucks but was holding out for a wallhanger for which this area is well-known. The outfitter accommodated two archery elk hunters, and one killed a 300-class bull, while the other missed three bulls. His only antelope hunter got a pronghorn scoring about 84 B&C points. His prices are among the best for trophy hunts because he doesn't lease property, conducting his hunts only in units where resident as well as non-resident hunting permits are limited by the state. His prices will be going up a couple of hundred dollars in 2007, however, to adjust for increased gasoline prices. "It's not the gas we burn while hunting that kills me," he said. "It's all the gas we use up while scouting." Hunts.Net members contact us in January if you want to book a hunt and apply for tags.
