We work with a 2-man outfitting team with extensive knowledge and guiding experience in northwestern Nevada and southeastern Oregon. The state of Nevada offers a couple of opportunities for hunters to draw a tag. First there is the outfitter draw, and clients have to apply by the last of February, and then there is the general draw when applications are due by late April. Preference points can be obtained on both drawings. The application deadline in Oregon is usually in early May. These mule deer hunts can be physically demanding. hunt conducted out of spike camps, but mostly is run from a tent base camp. Hunter success is typically 90 to 100 percent each year with most bucks scoring 160 to 190 and the occasional buck over 190 B&C. Just because you are hunting Nevada and Oregon, where all tags are limited by the state and bucks, therefore, have a good chance of getting big, that doesn't mean you will get a record-class buck, but deer of that quality are there. Season runs the last 3 weeks of October and a late hunt is November/December. Archery mule deer hunting takes place in August. The bow tags are generally quite easy to draw, but the buck quality is excellent due to the limitations on rifle hunting pressure. These outfitters also offer California bighorn sheep hunts in Nevada and Oregon. The sheep hunts are typically 100 percent successful. There's a chance of making book with a desert ram. Hunters are picked up at the nearest airport. Hunt No. MD3321. |
