Utah ranch available for semi-guided mule deer hunts

This 4,500-acre ranch is available to a group of semi-guided mule deer hunters in 2009. You must buy your tag by the end of January, before all unsold non-resident tags are issued to residents.

Nobody hunted deer on the ranch in 2006 or 2007. The elk hunters in 2006 saw bucks most days. The elk hunters in 2007 saw a lot of bucks, including some nice ones. The lease holder reported seeing 15 four-point bucks one day (5x5 and 4x4 racks), including a 30-incher. A group hunted deer on the ranch in 2005. We heard they all took bucks, including some "really good ones," but they lost the chance to hunt the land again due to some violations of wildlife laws.

The rifle lease is available for the entire rifle season.

You'll be supplied with a map of the property. For an additional $5,000, you'll get the use of two big wall tents (15x20 and 10x15) with internal frames, and and two guides, each with a four-wheel-drive vehicle and a four-wheel-drive ATV.

Hunter success
Licenses
Hunter success probably will depend on trophy standards. Most hunters should be able to take a 22 to 24-inch buck, but there are some bigger animals in the 26 to 30-inch category. Technically, you must draw a license, but the drawing odds for non-residents have been 100%.  You must apply by Feb. 16 online, or unsold non-resident tags go to residents
Lodging Notes
The lease does not include any lodging. The semi-guided hunt includes the use of two erected wall tents, 10x15 and 15x20. You can combine a hunt with elk, moose or whitetail
Season Notes
Usually starts the first Saturday after Oct. 15. Archery deer, blackpowder deer, and elk seasons are also available.
