Exclusive trophy deer hunts on private ranch in southeastern Wyoming

One of our favorite Colorado outfitters leased this 15,000-acre southeastern Wyoming ranch a few months ago but was unable to advertise until now because he first had to procure his Wyoming outfitting license. The landowner's family has been hunting the ranch lightly, taking a handful of bucks each year. They have killed some whitetails in the 160s and muleys in the 180s. The outfitter wants no more than four whitetail hunters a year and no more than four mule deer hunters a year.  He expects his hunters to take whitetails scoring no less than 140 and muleys scoring in the 170s and 180s. The ranch produced two muleys in the 180s last year. The whitetail rifle season is Nov. 1-30, and if you have two hunters you'll be the only hunters on the ranch for five days. The mule deer season is Oct. 1-10. The first five days is full with two hunters booked, and one hunter has booked for the last five days, leaving one opening. The ranch is 15,000 acres, but the whitetails are mainly on 5,000 acres of creek bottoms and rolling hills featuring cottonwoods, tamarisk and brush. Meals and quarters in a nice lodge are included in the price. The ranch is about three hours from the Denver airport, or you can fly into Cheyenne. License applications are due in Cheyenne on March 15. Last year there were 30 applicants for 43 licenses. Hunt MD568WY.
