Hunts.Net customer Steve Egger waited for a long-horned buck with great cutters, 2004. This outfitter has been taking only four to five hunters a year on a private ranch that covers 40 square miles near the town of Tatum. Consequently, most of his hunters take bucks with horns longer than 16 inches. He has been managing the ranch conservatively for the past six years, and he has seen the quality climb. He might be able to go to six hunters in 2007.Hunts.Net customer Rusty Schultz of Alabama, who shot a Boone and Crockett caliber buck on this property, said he's not sure whether the buck he shot was the biggest he saw. "I saw more big antelope on this hunt in two days than I had seen during several hunts in other states," he said. Hunts.Net customer Cy Partington of Colorado took bucks in 2003 and 2004. "This was the best-run and funnest hunt I've ever been on," Cy said. "I'm going back, and this time I'll hold out for one of the really big bucks. The outfitter is a great guy and really goes out of his way to make sure you have a good hunt." Hunts.Net customer Henry Adamiak of Illinois reported seeing more than 100 antelope, including three or four 16-inch-plus bucks and three or four that would score 80 inches B&C or better. "I shot at one buck," he said, "a 15-incher that gross green scored 79 ½ to 80 inches. He ended up netting under 80 inches because he broke a prong shortly before I killed him. He had real large prongs and good mass. The best things about the hunt were the quality of antelope on the ranch, the guides knew their business and were good judges of antelope, and the price was a good value for the money." The outfitter also offers pronghorn antelope hunts in West Texas on a few select private ranches about 1 1/2 hours east of Midland, Texas (no high fences). The price is $2,000 for three days. "You don't see as many bucks on my Texas places as you do on my New Mexico ranch," he said, "and you stay in a hotel. I took two hunters in Texas in 2004, and they got a 77 and a 76. One was 15 and the other was 14 7/8. One had seven-inch prongs. In good rain years the antelope in the country where I hunt in Texas get very big. We left some tremendous antelope there in 2004. It rained for six straight days, and on the first day I couldn't get into the pastures where I had seen the biggest bucks, and so I took my hunters to the part I could access, and they both decided to shoot right away." 1 ½ hours east of Midland.

Booked through 2009 except for a last minute opening in 2008, which the ranch is booking at $3,500, a savings of $500.
Three Hunts.Net bowhunters bought the hunts on our favorite New Mexico antelope ranch, and the outfitter decided to keep the fourth permit for himself. All three archers scored on Pope and Young bucks, and the two pictures above are the first two we received after the hunt. The outfitter had never accommodated archers but felt he could produce due to the large number of big bucks on the ranch. Guide Alan Martinez and HN Customer Gabe White are happy about Gabe's buck, top, which field-scored 80 Pope and Young points. Jeff Fultz's buck, below, scored 77 P&Y. Details.
