This outfitter's first love is trophy trophy antelope hunting, and he has been extremely successful. He has guided hunters to 15 or 16 antelope that grossed over 82 Boone and Crockett points, and his biggest so far scored 91, tying the state record and ranking No. 9 in the world when his hunter shot it. One reason he is successful is that he spends many days and covers several thousand miles per year looking for exceptional bucks. He estimated that he has driven as many as 6,000 miles a year in the past few years, just scouting out big antelope.
If you want to hold out for an exceptional trophy, consider hiring him. His rates are reasonable. You can add elk or mule deer in some areas during certain dates. Lodging and meals are not included. You may camp on your own, or you can stay in a motel in Thermopolis. He operates in eight different units, including one where you can draw a tag on your second choice, preserving your preference points for a future year. In one area you may shoot two bucks, but he said a big buck is hard to find there. Both sides of the outfitter's family homesteaded in Thermopolis, and he can get on some ranches, but most of the biggest bucks he has found are on public land that he knows well. |
