Highly successful stone sheep outfitter |

This outfitter takes three stone sheep hunters a year and seldom fails to get a ram for each customer. "Since running this area we have been 90 percent and have had only had one rifle hunter not kill," the outfitter said. "This is a great opportunity for you to kill that dark stone sheep at a reduced price because we have found ourselves with an opening this year." The price is subject to change. The outfitter offers a flat fee hunt, or you can pay less up front with a larger trophy that adds up to a higher total price but ensures that you don't pay the entire amount unless you shoot a ram. "We hunt out of two camps," the outfitter said. "We either fly back into our remote camp and backpack from the air strip, or we use ATVs to drive 20 miles into another camp at the end of the trail. From there we backpack in for a 10-day hunt. Horses can be used, but if you are in decent shape, the horses don't save a lot. While backpacking you can stay up top and hunt new ground every day instead of going back to horses and covering the same stuff. If you come in August, we will have two guides on the the hunt. Sometimes we will split up with one guide and have the other go look for a ram in other country so you will cover twice the ground. If you don't see a ram (which has never happened) you will be able to stay for an extra fee of $500 per day. We want you to have success as word of mouth is how we book hunts. Last year we were 100 percent as usual. Since we have only three sheep tags in this area , we are able to fill our quota without hurting our good population of rams." |
