Northwestern Kansas turkey hunt on private leases | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
An outfitter I've used in northwestern Kansas offers guided, semi-guided and unguided turkey hunts on his private leases in the northwestern corner of the state. He has about 70,000 private acres leased in units 1, 2, 3 and 4. Hunter success is typically 100% because the birds don't get much hunting pressure in this area. The guided hunts include motel or bunkhouse quarters and meals for up to five days. The elf-guided hunts do not include meals or lodging. I saw many turkeys during my deer hunt in December. The wooded riverbottoms are ideal for turkey hunting because a lack of cover in the area concentrates birds. -- Rich LaRocco
