GREAT NEW PRODUCT

I'm impressed with a new product that I highly recommend to hunters. Called PhoneSkope, it's a way to attach your cell phone to your binoculars or spotting scope. I had the company make me a PhoneSkope that allows me to connect my Galaxy Note II to a unique spotting scope that I use, consisting of a Nikon Scope Adapter paired with a Nikkor 300mm F4 lens. Through it I can see and photograph or video tape bucks more than four miles from my house. It's unbelievable. To contact the company check out www.phoneskope.com.

Northwestern Kansas turkey hunt on private leases

An outfitter I've used in northwestern Kansas offers guided, semi-guided and unguided turkey hunts on his private leases in the northwestern corner of the state. He leases several ranches and farms every year, mostly for his fine deer hunting operation, but many of his properties are great for turkey hunting.

. Most of his land is in units 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Hunter success is typically 100% because the birds don't get much hunting pressure in this area.

The guided hunts include motel or bunkhouse quarters and meals for up to five days.

The self-guided hunts do not include meals or lodging. I saw many turkeys during my deer hunt in December. The wooded riverbottoms are ideal for turkey hunting because a lack of cover in the area concentrates birds. -- Rich LaRocco
