The outfitter recently bought out another outfitter and has a few openings he wants to fill for this fall. This region produces some world-class bucks. Meals and lodging included, $2,500 a person. He has a quota of four bowhunters and four rifle hunters. He also has a few elk openings at $3,500 for archery and $4,500 for rifle. Our top trophy hunt If you're looking to take a truly remarkable whitetail, we think this hunt offers the best chance. The outfitter does many extra things to ensure top-quality hunting for his customers, such as feeding deer in tough winters, hiring ranchers and farmers to guide for him on their own property, and place many stands well before hunting season. Consequently, most of his hunters come back year after year, and they've become quite picky with some of them actually passing on 170-class bucks. One of our customers has taken two bucks over 190. I bought four slots for 2010, and those are available to Hunts.Net customers, but the outfitter won't be taking anybody else new until 2011. This is real hunting, not high-fence preserve shooting, so success rates are not 100% on trophy-size bucks, but it has consistently been 70 to 75%. One exceptional year produced a 75% success rate on bucks averaging nearly 180 B&C. Lodging and meals are included. When you reserve a spot, you save an opening but not the price, which will likely rise from the current $5,300. Hunt WD136.
