Hunt trophy whitetail deer hunting in Saskatchewan |

| This outfit recently changed hands. One of our agents killed a 180-class whitetail with the former outfitter. The new outfitter used to guide for the former outfitter and has been operating under other outfitter's licenses for the past three years. He produced 23 bucks for 23 hunters in the past two years. His average score has been about 145 B&C. He grew up in his new area and said he knows it well. He said it's entirely composed of bush and includes eight townships alongn with two 36-square-mile areas near Hudson Bay. He said he has eight or nine blinds for morning hunting and additional blinds for afternoon hunting. He hunts both sides of the Little Swan River. Hunting is primarily over baited stands, but he also rattles and grunts bucks. Deer hunts are in November and early December. He has 12 hunters booked, but has a quota of 38 tags. "There's a pretty good deer population," he said. "You won't see 50 deer, but every third deer is usually a buck. You probably see 10 to 12 deer a day, and probably three or four will be bucks. The outfitter I bought out got bucks for eveybody but one hunter last year. He got two or three bucks that were book class. He won't let me use any of his pictures because he is still going to be outfitting on a smaller scale in a different area." Unlike most hunts, mine include the general services tax, which comes out to about 3 1/2 percent. I'll be renting a big four-bedroom house with plumbing only 20 minutes from the forest. |
