Wolf hunts in Alberta: One of our favorite outfitters offers a wolf hunt northwest of Calgary in late January or February. He had three hunters in 2000, and all three took wolves. In 2001 he had two hunters and did not take any wolves though one of the hunters had a good opportunity. Price is $2,600 for a seven-day hunt. Accommodations are in cabins on a nice tourist ranch. You'll hunt the Yaha Tinda ranch, where elk winter when snow drives them from the high country. If the elk are down, the outfitter takes his hunters among the elk by horseback. Wolves are in there feeding on the elk. Hunt WO136. |

British Columbia wolf hunts are $2,000 for seven days. The season is open year-round except for the last day of March and during July and August. The guides like to call in wolves in the winter, using predator calls. The outfit took two hunters after wolf in 2004, and both killed a wolf along with many coyotes during a December trip. You'll stay in a lodge unless you prefer tent camping in early fall. Hunt WO815. | |||||||||||
